The General Director of InTekhEnergo Alexander Shevtsov started to solve the problem of improving the efficiency of cooling towers over 10 years ago. The first application for the invention was filed by him in 2004, and 27.03.2006, he was granted a patent for the invention “Cooling tower” № RU 2272977.
In 2006, commissioned by the Division of RAO “UES of Russia” – “UGC TGC-8” was made the project of reconstruction of cooling tower № 2 Astrakhan CHPP-2 using the Shevtsov’s invention. In accordance with this project the works were carried out on manufacturing and installation of the pilot unit of the evaporative cooling system in 1st option, and in 2007 – completed the 2nd option. The system operation was examined by All-Russian Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering of B.E. Vedeneyeva (Saint-Petersburg). The Institute report “The defining the economic effect of the cooling tower № 2 Astrakhan CHPP-2 of the introduction of an evaporative cooling system for the outside air” from 17.12.2007 noted the high efficiency of the system, and defined period of payback – 0.8 years.
In 2007, the project of reconstruction of another cooling tower Astrakhan CHPP-2 was developed, but the funding of the further work was discontinued in connection with the reorganization of RAO “UES of Russia”.
The work on the improvement of technology continued, and in 2008, Alexander Shevtsov received another patent for the invention “Cooling tower” № RU 2342614.
In 2011, the invention was registered in the US and received a patent № US 8.047.508 B2 «Cooling tower».
In 2015, the application for a new invention “A device for pre-cooling the air in the air-cooling devices” was filed, and in February 2016 the international application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty for this invention was filed.
Now we search for investors to fund the creation of a prototype installation of evaporative cooling air system for air-cooled apparatuses (dry coolers) and testing this prototype in a refinery.
